![]() ![]() Hopefully this helps anyone who's spent hours searching the internet trying to find a solution to this issue. If not, remove the new Sims.exe and change the old one to it's original name. Make sure you keep this file in case the new one doesn't work.ģ.) Download the file and move the new Sims.exe to the same folder (:C > Program Files (x86) > Maxis > Sims).Ĥ.) Launch, run the game in compatibility mode if necessary.ĥ.) If it works, enjoy. Obviously you will have to own the game too for this to work.ġ.) Make sure you already have the game installed on your computer.Ģ.) Go to :C > Program Files (x86) > Maxis > Sims. I own the game and installed it on my computer via the installation disks. Please note that this is not a link to a pirated version of the game, just a fixed Sims.exe that will allow the game to launch on Windows 10. Google Drive also scans anything you upload with it's antivirus, but regardless use at your own risk. ![]() I scanned it with my anitvirus and it came up normal. I have uploaded it to Google Drive, as the website I found it on was a bit sketchy. ![]() A modified Sims.exe to do this can be found here: Installing the mod that bypasses the disc and running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 fixed the problem for me. MANY thanks to beatlesblondie over at the Mod The Sims forums for the tip. this is the only way to play it to my knowledge. there you should be able to remove update KB3086255. Remove update KB3086255 and it should work.Ĭontrol panel, windows update, view update history, click installed updates at the top of tab. google search after google search, i finally found the problem.Ī windows update on september 9th has apparently screwed up many people sims 1 game, making it not play. RPG Maker, known in Japan as RPG Tsukru is a series of programs for the development of role-playing video games (RPGs) with story-driven elements. now that thats done, i expected it to work once again. i still right clicked my sims.exe icon, went to properties, compatibility, check box 'run program in compatibility mode' and choose windows xp service pack 3. not with my regular 'run as admin' or anything. Yesterday on a whim, i wanted to play sims 1 again. So far, not so bad.įor myself, I'll just sit back and see how many people's computers self-destruct.Copy/paste from my answer to this question, so i thought i'd make a thread. I took some time before I put pets on.again, I wasn't sure if my game would play well afterwards. I'm still undecided about seasons (I'm not sure my computer can handle another expansion pack) but from what I've heard about BV I doubt very much I'll get that one. I also don't think that I'm computer literate enough to "go around" what ever it is I'd have to go around.Īs for right now, I'm not getting it. Yeah, I know a lot of people haven't had problems with secur-rom but then a lot of other people have. I haven't had this computer all that long I don't feel like fucking it over royally because it's not like I can just go out and buy another one. Plus, all the talk about secur-rom kinda scares me, too. I can wait until they at least get a patch for freetime before i would even think about adding it. Since I came to the world of Sims a little late (no computer to run it on) I don't mind waiting a bit to get a new expansion. Just back up my neighborhoods (and whatever else I don't want to lose) and install FT when I get ready for it.Ĭare to fan the flames of my worry? Advice? Just want to point and laugh? (really, I live to pre-worry things, it's my hobby and I have great enthusiasm for it-is there a secret worry club? if so, I should be the president)Īt least for now, I'm with you. I'm tempted to just go balls to the wall with this. Now I've read through the big ass threads at MATY about how to get rid of secur rom and all that but (obviously) it only made me more confused. Now, using a no-cd crack simply involves the re-naming of one game file/folder and then using the crack as instructed (whatever that may be, I haven't looked into that yet).Īm I over simplifiying this? It seems like I am.Īnd, do I really need to be worrying about this? It seems like a lot of people had no issues with secur rom post BV installation BUT.there are too many variables, it seems. So, in order to prevent secur rom from being able to do its thing, you need to access the game through an alternative route (aka a no cd crack). It's only able to DO anything if you fire up the game using BV or higher. The way I understand it, if you have the Teen Stuff pack installed but are firing up the game via Seasons or lower, secur rom is there but not able to really DO anything. So I need some clarification on what level of worry I should be at and what I need to do to prepare for the arrival of FT. ![]()
